The Era of “Dumb” Print is Dead: Welcome to Phygital Marketing
Attention Marketers, Agency Owners & Retail Execs: If your print collateral isn’t actively capturing customer data, you are leaving money on the table. The days of unmeasurable, static print campaigns are over. Welcome to the era where a physical in-store sign tracks your customers as effectively as a Facebook pixel.
Today, bigDAWGS and Print Three are rolling out the ultimate “Phygital” marketing hack across Canada.
In our latest video clip, bigDAWGS CEO Eddie Davin and Print Three President Andrew Hrywnak break down the foundational magic of NFC (Near Field Communication) print technology. We aren’t just slapping a chip on a piece of paper. We are bridging premium hardware with sophisticated backend tracking software to create a measurable marketing powerhouse.
How NFC Review Stands Transform Your Countertop
Here is exactly what happens when a customer taps their smartphone against our new NFC-enabled Review Stands:
-
Instant Reputation Management: A simple tap launches a custom landing page to gauge the customer’s experience. If they had a negative experience, their feedback is routed straight to an internal management form. This allows your team to address and resolve the issue before a bad review goes public.
-
Five-Star Acceleration: If the customer is thrilled with their experience, the NFC technology funnels them directly to your Google Reviews page. This removes the friction of manual searching, drastically increasing your volume of 5-star reviews and boosting your local SEO ranking.
-
The Ultimate Retargeting Hack: The exact second a customer taps the stand, we capture their digital footprint. You can now serve them targeted Google and Facebook ads based entirely on a physical, in-store interaction.
This is how you turn a simple piece of acrylic sitting on a checkout counter into a massive, data-harvesting digital ad campaign.

FULL TRANSCRIPT (AI-GENERATED):
[00:00:00] Adrian: So Eddie, we’ve been doing NFC since 2013 and we introduced, um, foil in 2020 which is what brought Andrew to our door. Now you’re rolling out foundational NFC print to the Print 3 network. Uh, can you break down the magic of, uh, how this works? And what actually happens when someone taps this?
[00:00:27] Eddie: Thank you for that Adrian.
[00:00:28] Eddie: Well, for those that don’t know what NFC is, it’s basically the same technology that they use to pay for stuff in the store. You could tap with your phone or you can tap with a credit card. It’s the same tech. We are using that in marketing and, uh, sales materials. But I think what drives us is the power that we have when we combine both the back end, which is the software, and also the hardware, which is the production part of it as well.
[00:00:53] Eddie: Many companies, they either specialize in one or the other. We do both. So I’ll give you an example. Uh, we have Google review stands. These review stands are typically used in stores now that you can tap with your phone. And when you tap it, they go directly to the Google Review or the other review aggregator directly.
[00:01:13] Eddie: But we have a system where when you tap it with your phone, it goes to a landing page that first asks them, uh, basically how well they did, the store did. And if they leave a bad review or if they’re disgruntled, it gives us the opportunity– Gives them an opportunity to basically file a complaint with the management of the store before they actually leave a bad review.
[00:01:35] Eddie: So that’s one of the things that we, we have done. And on the backend of things as well is the idea that we can tie it in with marketing campaigns. So when you tap the NFC… Any NFC, Could be an NFC business card. Could be via maybe stand with your phone. It can tie in with online advertising so it can be part of the Google Ads audience, Facebook audience, uh, and that sort of thing.
[00:02:02] Eddie: So basically when you start interacting with marketing pieces or sales collateral that contains NFC, you can actually, uh, have c-customer base and audience that you can present ads to. So very exciting. That mix of technology, we’re good at both. Uh, and I think that’s, uh, that is something that, uh, the opportunity that we have at Print 3 releasing to all the customers showing the power of that integrated marketing, I think that will really go far and disrupt the entire Canadian print and marketing industries
